5 Things You Can Make Using Recycled Good

Recycling is not only good for the environment, it’s also good for your wallet! Now more than ever, we have easy access to tons of durable materials such as glass, aluminum and tin. Why not turn your trash into treasure?

Here are five great items you can make with some items that are in your recycling bin right now:

1. Soap or lotion dispenser

Bottles and cans which were once used to store alcohol and oils make unique dispensers. These can easily be upgraded to your kitchen or bathroom sink by finding a pump and tube to attach to the bottle’s mouth.

2. Candle holder

The options are endless for this craft idea. Many mouths of glass bottles are the perfect size for a taper candle making its transformation a one-step process. If you prefer something more visually appealing:
  • Cut bottle in half
  • Sand edges
  • Add wick and wax.
  • Voila!

3. Vase

Apply steps from number two and use the base portion for freshly cut flowers.

4. Organizer

After a tiny makeover, tin cans are quickly turned into a center for pencils or makeup brushes. To revive used cans, apply a fresh layer of paint, fabric or twine.

5. Windchimes

Decorate cans and thread beaded strings through nail-punched holes for a nice accessory to your deck or balcony. You can also visit this website to find out more about glass bottle recycling in San Jose.
